ObjectivesDesign the task flows and user interface for the FedEx Ship & Get automated kiosk, an eloborate self-service system that allows people to ship FedEx packages and to retrieve packages sent to them. These kiosks are deployed in 24-hour grocery stores and other handy neighborhood locations, allowing people to pick up and ship packages at their convenience. The kiosk interface includes a video touch screen, audio speakers, credit card reader, bar code scanner, signature scanner, video cameras, and a bank of package lockers. ResultsThe system was extremely well received in public trials in the Chicago area. This led FedEx to schedule a nationwide rollout of the system. This rollout was in the early stages when FedEx acquired Kinkos, largely negating the need for the Ship & Get kiosks. My RoleI performed all the UE design for each of 4 iterations of the system (spread over a 2-year period), working collaboratively with a visual designer. I served as the principal client contact through all iterations and managed the project for Onlinefocus. I wrote the audio scripts for the voice-overs and served as voice director during the recording sessions. I also wrote the script for the 60-second introductory video and the copy for the help screens. Samples of my Documents
