Objectives
Design and build an extranet application that allows distributors to report their monthly sales data to Genentech. Also build an administrator interface that can be used while providing phone support to the distributors. The site is specifically targeted to the smaller distributors that don't use EDI. These distributors had previously submitted their monthly reports via fax, and were not necessarily computer savvy.
My Role
I led the project, managing a UX designer and a team of Java engineers. I served as the principal client contact. I set the overall UX direction for the product, and I jointly designed the use cases with the UX designer. Then I collaborated with the UX designer to brainstorm design solutions for all the tricky issues. I designed and created a set of high-fidelity scenario-based demos to communicate the plans for the project to the client. I personally built out all the HTML pages, modifying the original design as needed to achieve the best results. I then converted my finished HTML pages to JSP pages and built some of the display-layer Java code myself.
