ObjectivesCreate a complete framework for the consistent and user-friendly design of all the international FedEx websites -- approximately 180 websites in all. Our mandate was to create model web pages, standard site maps, and a detailed style and implementation guidebook. We divided the FedEx country sites into tiers according to their volume of business, and focused primarily on two countries to serve as our models: Canada for high volume countries, and Russia for lower volume countries. ResultsOur sponsors at FedEx were quite happy with the results. Due to limited budgets for the international websites, our models were not implemented on every site worldwide -- but we eventually rebuilt about 20 FedEx country sites based on our new specifications. My RoleI led the project, managing a UE design team consisting of 4 members, including myself. I divided the design tasks among the 4 of us and provided detailed feedback to the other 3 members on their work. I designed the "Dropoff Locations" module, creating a model that reflected the actual FedEx locations in Mexico. As the principal editor of the 116-page "Implementation Guide", I established the overall framework and style and performed all of the final editing. I also served as the principal client contact.
